Do you know what an itashi car is? Either way, we’ll have one on display at the entrance to the convention (north side, near Artist Alley) all weekend for a great photo op!
10:00 AM, Opening Ceremonies – MAIN EVENTS
Welcome to the new Newcon: Fandom PDX! Stop by for a brief overview of the history of Anime PDX, Newcon PDX, Green Mustard Entertainment and the rebuilding of Portland’s local fan favorite pop culture event.
10:30 AM, Extra Life PDX Game Room – GAME ROOM
From tabletop to televisions featuring your favorite video games – Extra Life PDX has you covered! Swing by and check out this amazing charity organization geared at gamers while partaking in a variety of analog and digital gaming goodness. The Game Room closes at 8:00 PM on Saturday.
11:00 AM, BTS: The Battle of the Best Boi – A Parody Panel – MAIN EVENTS
Who is your favorite Member of the best boy band since One Direction? Come join your bias team as the BTS army battles to find out who is the best! There will be quirky games, challenges and lots of mixed up things to do as we try to decide who gets the title of best boi for the day! Will it be RM, Jimin, Jin, Suga, V, J Hope or Harry Styles, I mean Jungkook! Bring your A game and be ready to play! Disclaimer this will be a parody panel so them jokes will be flying. Sorta like a BTS extreme video but live action. See you there.
11:00 AM, Artist Alley Opens – ARTIST ALLEY
Pop culture events like Fandom PDX are a chance to celebrate local artists and this year will be our largest one ever! Stop by and shop in a bazaar of over forty artists showcasing a variety of styles and selections. The room closes at 7:00 PM on Saturday.
11:00 AM, Fairy Tail (Episodes 1-4) – VIEWING ROOM
TV-14. Dubbed. Funimation. When four young Fairy Tail members unite, their bond is forged by a power found in neither muscle nor magic and grows stronger with every mission. A standard at fandom conventions! This year’s Vendors Room will feature over twenty-five booths of shopping and showcasing for fans to check out. Media talent from the convention will also be in the room all weekend selling autographs, so stop by and say hi! The room closes at 7:00 PM on Saturday.
11:30 AM, Cosplay Modeling 101 – PANELS ROOM
Join us for this all ages instructional panel on how to get great shots of your cosplay at conventions. This panel will cover tips and tricks to getting the photos you really want of your costumes while at a convention with and without a professional photographer.
12:00 PM, Harry Potter: Trivia Of Advancing Difficulty – MAIN EVENTS
For those who have passed their OWLs and NEWTs, it’s time to take your TOAD! Test your literary knowledge of the Harry Potter universe with this challenging trivia. You can take the test alone or as a team, but study hard, or you might find yourself with a Troll.
12:00 PM, Post Apocalyptic Costuming on a Budget – LARP ROOM
Come join Dying Light LARP as we bring a selection of thrift store finds and give you 30 minutes to design yourself a post apocalyptic persona!

Shenanigans is the name of the game! Well not really but there will be a lot of it. Zip Zap Zoom, Ninja, Freeze and a Paper Airplane Contest are just a few of the games we will be playing. So if you’re interested in having some fun ( I mean who isn’t ? ) then come and join the party!
1:00 PM, Cardcaptor Sakura: The Movie – VIEWING ROOM
Subbed. PG. Discotek. It’s a lucky day when Sakura wins a trip to Hong Kong, but why are her dreams haunted by dark waters and a strange woman? There’s no time to enjoy her vacation, however. Sakura is hypnotized and led to discover both a watery phantom world, and the evil woman who inhabits it. But is this spirit as malicious as she seems, or does she burn with a desire for revenge? 1:00 PM, Rikki Simons Q&A: Doom Song Not Included – MAIN EVENTS
Rikki Simons is popularly known as the voice of GIR from Invader ZIM, and he’s come to Portland to answer all of your questions about him, his life, that robot that dresses like a dog, and that forthcoming movie about the green alien on that orange themed kid’s channel. Just don’t ask him to sing that one song.
1:30 PM, It’s Time To Be A Hero! (My Hero Academia Fan Panel) – PANELS ROOM
Want to be a hero? Come and join the panel where you can meet some of your favorite heroes! (And villains!) This panel will present you with games and a Q and A with the heroes and villains from the popular anime My Hero Academia! (Cosplayers, not actual voice actors) At this panel, you will meet Izuku Midoriya, Katsuki Bakugo, Asui Tsuyu, Momo Yaoyorozu, Mina Ashido, and more! The panel hopes to see you there!

Mary McDonald-Lewis is best known to many folks growing up in the 80’s as “Lady Jaye” on the G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero animated series. She was also the star and co-star of many other shows, including as “Lois Lane” on Superfriends, “Princess Goleeta” on Galtar and the Golden Lance, and much more! Join us for the moderated Q&A about voice acting and classic cartoons.

4:00 PM, Creating Fan Art with Floydman – MAIN EVENTS
If you are interested in the creative process of fan art, come join Floydman of Planet F Studios who is a self-taught artist with an unique style that is influenced “pop culture” past and present. He is currently working as a sketch artist for Topps on WACKY PACKAGES and GARBAGE PAIL KIDS trading card sets. His past projects have included work for MAIN ENTERPRISES, MONSTERWAX TRADING CARDS, NIKE, MYSTERY SCIENCE THEATRE TRADING CARDS and SHARKNADO TRADING CARDS as well as his own MAD inspired humor magazine HMM? and his self published comic Sgt. Roadkil’s Fanboy Journal.

4:30 PM, Prop Building: Knowing your Tools and Materials – PANELS ROOM
Prop Building: Knowing your Tools and Materials, is a 60 minute course will cover the basic tools and materials commonly used in prop/replica building, and how to use them in a safe and appropriate manner. Discussion points will include project inception, planning and budget, parts fabrication, painting and coloring, and tips for protecting your project longevity. The core information learned from this panel will help attendees move right into Prop Building Techniques. A Q&A at the end of the panel will allow attendees to have short questions answered, or for more complicated questions, contact information exchanged. Samples of the aforementioned materials will also be present to examine.

5:30 PM, From Arkham Asylum to Red Sonja: How Early 20th Century Literature Changed Modern Comics
The panel will show how the 1920 and 1930 mass market literature had a massive impact on comic books, that is still being felt to this day. How pulp authors Donald Wandrei and Julius Schwartz, who also guided DC from Comics Silver Age to Comics Bronze Age, sneak in pulp references? Why did Deny O’Neill choose the name “Arkham Asylum” for the mental hospital in Gotham? How Robert E Howard’s character set in the 17th century, Red Sonya became the sword wielding chainmail bikini wearing warrior in Conan the Barbarian. And why we see so much influence of Pulp master HP Lovecraft in comics?

7:00 PM, Evangelion: 1.11 You Are [Not] Alone – VIEWING ROOM
TV-14. Dubbed. Funimation. Tokyo-3 still stands after most of civilization was decimated in the Second Impact. Now the city endures the ceaseless onslaught of the deadly Angels, bizarre creatures bent on eradicating the human race. TV-PG. Dubbed. Funimation. Keroro is Sergeant Frog – the leader of a platoon of warriors sent to conquer planet Earth. But when the amphibious invaders discovered how much humans enjoy dissecting their comrades, the troops were scattered, the mission was aborted, and Keroro was abandoned. Now, this once proud soldier spends more time wielding a vacuum than he does the weapons of war. It’s a far cry from the glory of battle, but hey, at least he’s got his own room.

TV-PG. Dubbed. Funimation. Following the events of the Dragon Ball Z television series, after the defeat of MajinBuu, a new power awakens and threatens humanity. Beerus, an ancient and powerful God of Destruction, searches for Goku after hearing rumors of the Saiyan warrior who defeated Frieza. Realizing the threat Beerus poses to their home planet, the Z Fighters must find a way to stop him before it’s too late. Channel your inner pop star (or rock star… or country star… you get it, right?) while “performing” Milli Vanilli style (Ashley Simpson style?) in your chosen character costume. Join Fandom Forge PDX for a 90 minute course that will cover several different basic building techniques commonly used in prop/replica building. Discussion points will include appropriate material choice, parts fabrication, different build techniques, and tips/tricks for building on a budget. Cosplay model and emcee Kamon Tari has made it a point to balance her pop culture career by always putting time into charitable organizations. Since Green Mustard Entertainment, Inc. bought Newcon PDX and created Fandom PDX – she let us choose the charity… Give Kids the World (based in Central Florida, where our home office is). Stop by and bid on some pretty cool (and geeky!) stuff – all for a good cause.
