PDXpelliarmus

PDXpelliarmus is the Portland Chapter of the Harry Potter Alliance.  They engage our local community to promote literacy, equality, and human rights, to raise funds for worthy non-profits, and to encourage fan activism and civic engagement.  Founded in 2005, the HPA is an international non-profit that works to harness the enthusiasm of fans to imagine better for their communities.

Annual activities include the Accio Books campaign, collecting books for schools and libraries.  PDXpelliarmus also hosts the Hogwarts Early Admission Program, a free day of  all-ages crafts and activities.  For the last two summers, they have teamed up with McMenamin’s Kennedy School to celebrate Harry’s birthday with a special event and school supply drive.  In December, they present the Yule Ball, an evening of well-mannered frivolity that includes a feast, music, dancing, butterbeer, and magic, the proceeds of which are donated to a local non-profit.
